IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — Saxaphone or guitar, those were the choices facing young Danny Heslop.
“I wanted to do something in music and [my mom] said, ‘You can play the saxaphone or the guitar,’ and so I said, ‘Oh, I don’t know’ and she said, ‘Well, you’re playing the guitar because we have grandpa’s old guitar in the closet.’ So, that’s when I started doing that,” Danny Heslop, a local musician and guitar teacher, told KID Newsradio.
It didn’t take long for Heslop to fall in love with the blues and his new guitar.
“I said to myself, ‘If I play the blues, I am set,'” Heslop said. “‘That’s all I need to do for the rest of my life,’ but I just kept going.”
Heslop graduated from the University of Utah in 2013 and moved to Idaho. Now, Heslop teaches as an adjunct professor at Brigham Young University – Idaho and works on Chesbro music’s wholesale staff.
Heslop performed his cover of “Symphony” by Clean Bandit on KID Newsradio, you can view the performance below. If you want to hear more of Heslop’s music, text GUITAR to 91011.
