A Florida high school is under lockdown Wednesday as the Broward Sheriff’s Office says a gunman remains at large.
Officials have described the scene at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland as a mass casualty incident, and say at least 20 people are injured.
The White House said President Trump is aware of the situation at the Parkland school.
“The President has been made aware of the school shooting in Florida. We are monitoring the situation. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected,” Deputy Press Secretary Lindsay Walters said.
Politicians and lawmakers have responded to the incident.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott tweeted that he’s spoken with county officials and the superintendent of Broward schools about the reported shooting, and said he’ll continue to monitor the situation.
