Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Kurt Busch’s crew chief may be out of action for at least part of this weekend’s events at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Tony Gibson underwent an emergency appendectomy this week and is recovering.
According to ESPN.com, he wrote Wednesday on Facebook, “Got home from the hospital last night. Just really sore today. Who needs an appendix anyway????””
Stewart-Haas Racing says team engineer John Klausmeier will fill in for Gibson until Gibson is ready to return, possibly as early as Friday morning.
The second race in the Sprint Cup Series’ Chase will be held at New Hampshire on Sunday.
