IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — KID Newsradio is launching a new raido and video series, KID Newsradio Studio Cover Sessions.
“East Idaho is rich with musical talent and we just wanted to put it on display,” Neal Larson, program director for KID Newsradio and host of The Neal Larson Show, said. “I’ve always believed that music has the power to change lives, and if we have to break away from the traditional news/talk format for a few minutes each week to enjoy our local talent… so be it.”
Each Friday, the respective artist will perform their own cover of a well-known song.
The series kicked off with a performance by 14-year-old Whitney Lewis, an Idaho Falls local and guitarist. Lewis told KID Newsradio she chose to perform “Hey, Soul Sister,” by Train on the ukulele in honor of Valentine’s Day this month.
Lewis’ performance also coincided with National Ukulele Day.
Listeners can tune each Friday for a new performance, on KID Newsradio 106.3 FM and 92.1 FM or on Facebook LIVE.
A video of Lewis’ performance is available below.
