Two separate shootings that occurred over the weekend are being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of shots fired Saturday evening, a Sheriff’s Office news release said. The deputies found a 43- year-old woman injured from a gunshot wound to the head. A 15-year-old boy was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The woman was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center and is expected to survive, the release said. The location of the shooting and the names of the victim are being withheld by investigators for concerns of privacy of the family.
According to the Post Register, the second shooting, which occurred early Sunday, was an accident involving juveniles playing with a gun. A 16-year-old boy was driving while one of his friends played with a .45 caliber handgun in the back seat. The rear passenger accidentally discharged the weapon, shooting himself in the left hand and the driver in the back. Another passenger, 14, was uninjured. The injured teens were taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
