Driver Destroys Public Art Piece, Leaves Bumper and License Plate Behind

The driver who ran over and destroyed a public art piece in Old Town Pocatello earlier this week didn’t make a clean getaway.

The bumper and license plate from the suspect’s vehicle was left at the scene of the accident that occurred Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning.

Authorities identified the owner of the vehicle but are still trying to make contact with the driver.

According to the Idaho State Journal, on Wednesday morning, local resident Rory Erchul discovered the middle portion of the art display completely shattered, with broken sections spread out on the grass. Erchul believes the display was intentionally vandalized.

“The art is in a spot where it had to be intentionally hit,” Erchul said.

Pocatello police continue to investigate the incident.
