(BLACKFOOT) – Officials at Blackfoot’s State Hospital South are working to honor those who lived and died at the hospital. From 1890 to 1981, 994 people died and were buried in a field east of the hospital. Last summer, volunteers cleaned the area up and installed sign, benches and flowerbeds. Administrative Director Tracey Sessions tells Local News 8 so far only 20 of the graces are marked. Donations are being accepted and the hospital is hoping to dedicate more headstones on Memorial Day.
