(IDAHO FALLS) – The Idaho Water Resource Board has been granted $1.5 million to recharge the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer. Irrigation districts and canal companies will be paid over a five-year period to move the water. Idaho Falls water official Lyle Swank tells Local News 8 re-charging the aquifer means local wells won’t run dry. The University of Idaho’s Water Research Institute will help determine which areas of the aquifer need recharged.
