Pop-singing sensation David Archuleta announced during a concert Monday that he intends to serve an LDS Mission:

Archuleta was the runner up on American Idol’s 7th season behind David Cook. The LDS Church has confirmed Archuleta will serve, but declined to reveal where he has been assigned or when he will begin his service.
