(BOISE) – Congress has approved the domestic slaughter of horses and Idaho ranchers are supporting the measure. On Monday, a Congressional Committee agreed to allows the U.S. Department of Agriculture to once again inspect horse carcasses for human consumption. The practice has been banned since 2007. But the director of the Idaho Horse Council tells the Post Register he was relieved the ban had been lifted. It should mean more money for horse owners and an alternative to abandonment.
