(IDAHO FALLS) – The first test of the nationwide emergency alert system will take place today. At noon today, a message indicating, “this is a test,” will be broadcast on radio, television and cable for about three and a half minutes. The effort is a public alert and warning system that enables the President of the United States to address the American public during extreme emergencies. Local officials remind the public, this is a test and you do not need to call 911.
